Before the Calamity

Most of this is information Badge himself has no recollection of.

The Lalafell who would one day become known as Badge Dawnster was born Babaji Dadaji to a reasonably successful lalafellan merchant named Hahaji Dadaji and a currently unnamed Miqo'te. He had a twin sister and a younger brother. The family resided in Horizon.

Babaji Dadaji age 8

Early life was fairly basic for Badge, his parents were loving, and he had a typical sibling style relationship with his siblings. Unfortunately, it would not remain so as one day when Badge was but 8 years old, his parents fell ill, and passed away. The siblings came into the care of their uncle, Lalaji Tataji who showed little care for the young lalafell, being content to just ignore them until they came of age and inherited their parents fortune so they could get out of his hair.A year into living with the man, he decided to shunt them off to be educated, putting them onto a ship bound for Vylbrand. Tragically pirates would attack, and the young lalafell would be cast into the sea as the ship they were on was sunk. This was obviously not the end as, the two oldest, Badge and his sister, washed up on shore near the Aleport, their younger sibling apparently lost, as no amount of searching could find him. With nowhere to go, little in the way of actual help offered by the sailors present, and no amount of lack of desire to return to their neglectful uncle, the two decided to make do, and became street urchins, living in and around the town for next few years. Stealing what food they could to survive.Eventually, things were bound to sour, and around the time they turned 10, sour indeed they did, as unbeknownst to most people, a group of dangerous, code breaking pirates had taken up refuge in the caves of Sastasha, and had been regularly travelling through Aleport on their way to their secret lair. the now orphan, street rats inadvertently stole some food from these dangerous individuals and became the target of their ire.The children fled, attempting to escape from the engraged pirates, and at some point, Badge lost track of his sister, she had gotten on board a ship to hide, and whilst hiding, it set sail. Badge was not so lucky, having fled into an alley, he wound up cornered, and the pirates caught up to him and began to beat him.As quickly as the beating had come it was over, however, as flashes of brilliant red lit up the alley. A Hyur clad in brilliant Vermillion stood at the entrance to the alley, and offered the boy his hand.
